Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions about Troupers.

Q: When are auditions?
A: Auditions for our spring show are usually in early December. Check our website for exact dates. We also announce them on our Facebook page and on the Connecticut Community Theater Connection Facebook page, and in local newspapers. Similarly, our fall shows usually audition in early summer. Watch this site for announcements.

In recent years, we have also performed a fall show, with auditions in August and performances in October or November. Auditions will be posted on our web site and announced on the social media.

Q: Do you pay performers?
A: No, sorry, our singers are not paid.

Q: How do I join the backstage staff?
A: Send and E-mail to info@trouperslightopera.org describing what you’d like to do.

Q: Do you use an orchestra?
A: Yes, we perform with a full 23-piece orchestra. Sullivan’s later shows required a 25-piece orchestra, adding a 2nd bassoon and a 3rd trombone, and we add them as well.

Q: Do you do only Gilbert and Sullivan?
A; We do other types of operetta as well, including DIe Fledermaus (Johann Strauss, Jr) and The Red Mill (Victor Herbert)
